Wapres Ke-9 RI Meninggal Dunia (foto: wikipedia/beritakarimun.id)Jakarta, beritakarimun.id – Wakil Presiden RI ke-9, Hamzah Haz, meninggal dunia. Hamzah Haz meninggal pada usia 84 tahun.
“Iya,” ujar Sekjen PPP Arwani Thomafi, Rabu (24/7/2024).
Hamzah Haz lahir di Ketapang, Kalimantan Barat, pada 15 Februari 1940. Dia aktif berorganisasi sejak muda.
Hamzah Haz mengawali karier sebagai guru pada 1960. Dia kemudian menjadi wartawan surat kabar Bebas di Pontianak hingga menjadi Pimpinan Umum Harian Berita Pawau di Kalimantan Barat.
Dalam dunia politik, Hamzah Haz menjabat Wapres mendampingi Presiden RI ke-5 Megawati Soekarnoputri. Hamzah Haz menjabat pada 2001-2004.
Sebelum itu, Hamzah Haz juga pernah menjabat sebagai Menteri Investasi pada era Presiden BJ Habibie. Hamzah Haz juga pernah menjadi Wakil Ketua DPR RI serta Menko Kesra era Presiden Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur).
